METAL PAN BOX WITH SEPARATE COMPARTMENTS
This beautiful and antique collectible is a pan box from Rajasthan. Pan boxes were either used to keep rolled betel leaf stuffed with betel nut, lime paste and other mixes or to store these ingredients to make a pan. Chewing this mixture of betel nut and betel leaf sometimes mixed with tobacco and other flavours is a tradition, custom or ritual which dates back thousands of years from India to the Pacific.
This decorated flat pan box is made of brass and has various compartments to hold various ingredients like betel nut, lime paste and spice mixes which are used in rolling a pan.
This vintage compact pan box will definitely add a vintage charm to your home décor and can even be used to store precious trinkets.
