HAND CARVED DEEPAM STAND

This vintage and beautifully structured wooden object is a Deepam stand (stand to keep traditional lamps). It is from Palakkad – border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. 

 Although modern day electric lighting has phased out candles in today's world, candle stands are still used in homes as  decorative elements  to add  vintage element to spaces. This stand fashioned as a temple pillar is made of single piece of Jack fruit wood.
